- We assume that you have a domain name registered through www.GoDaddy.com
- Let’s start from their webpage (www.GoDaddy.com)
- We will now learn how to ‘Transfer your domain name away’ from this registrar and into the domain registry of your choice.
- Domain name transfers must be initiated at the ‘New registrars Website’, that is the website for the domain registrar where you want your domain name ‘Transferred to’.
- First of all, you must first ensure that your domain name is ‘Not Locked’ , or being prevented from being transferred out of this registry.
- Click on the ‘Log in’ link.
- Enter your GoDaddy.com account username and password in the text box. Then click the Go button.
- You are now logged in to your GoDaddy.com account.
- Click on the ‘Domain Manager’ link.
- Click on the domain name you wish to manage.
- Click the ‘Manage’ link next to ‘Locked’.
- Uncheck the box next to ‘Lock Domains’.
- Click ‘Ok’ when finished.
- You are done. The lock has been removed from the domain name, so it can now be transferred to another domain registry.
- You must now go to the website of the domain name registrar you wish to transfer to, and initiate a ‘Domain transfer request’.
- When finished, click the ‘Log-out’ link.
